The first floor of the Putney General Store consists of our Deli-Cafe, the Bakery and our grocery department, which features a wide variety of food selections, including many Vermont specialty items.

Our Deli-Cafe offers daily lunch specials, including hot entrees, gourmet sandwiches, super salads and any kind of grinder you want. We also have fresh croissants, bagels and sweet treats like pistachio and blueberry muffins.

We are known for choice meats (sirloin, rib-eyes and filet mignon), Perdue chickens and fresh seafood. The dinner specials are prepared fresh daily, and include rotisserie chickens, baked scallops, roasted salmon, chicken cacciatore, lasagne and many other choice selections.

Many Vermont made treats fill the old wooden shelves, like hand-poured Vermont soaps and candles, Green Mountain Gringo Salsa, made in Chester, Vt., Vermont Gold grilling and roasting sauces, made in Brattleboro, Vt., and a colorful array of "Putney Pasta," "Mad River and After the Fall All Natural Sodas," and Fresh juices.

If you are looking for Vermont products, we have them! Vermont maple syrup, produced locally, maple sugar candies and maple butter, local honey, apples and other Vermont delicacies like Chutney, hot sauce and jellies.

The Putney General Store is the only scoop shop for Ben & Jerry's ice cream in Southeastern Vermont, scooping cones and mixing malts and sundaes with what many claim to be the best ice cream ever made.

The General Store is known for making one of the best cups of coffee in town, with several flavors to choose from. You will find a broad selection of coffee beans, from Star Bucks to Cool Beans of Vermont. You can grind your own beans, and mix and match to concoct the best brew, for you.

The General Store has one of the best selections of wine and beer. An entire section is devoted to Vermont's own micro-breweries. You can buy local wine produced at the Putney Mountain Winery, or purchase imported beers and fine wines from all over the world.

The Second Floor of the General Store is a world unto its own. The Toy Department is filled with creative and educational toys, games and puzzles which cannot be found any where else in the area.

This section includes a wonderful selection of Ravensburger games, made in Germany, as well as fantastic kits for young artists, and puzzles for children and adults.

We also have a unique selection of souvenirs, like T-shirts, sweat shirts, hats and mugs, including ones with the Putney General Store logo.

Beyond the toy section is the Video Department, which offers an incredibly wide selection of films, ranging from new releases, to classics and foreign films. Audio books are also for rent, among them Harry Potter and other children's titles.

A full line of health and beauty aids is available, with all the necessary medicinal remedies for local residents and people travelling through.
